Camano Island Chili and Chowder Cook-off

What: The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce will host the 20th annual event that pits some of that area’s best cooks against each other. The event also includes raffle prizes, free giveaways and live music. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

When: 3-7 p.m. Nov. 14.

Where: Camano Island Community Center, 608 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island.

Vote: People attending the event can vote for their favorite chili and chowder, and for the best decorated booth.

Admission: $10 at the door, includes 10 tastings.

Shuttle: A free shuttle will run from the parking lot at Utsalady Elementary to the center.

While there: You can make a day, or weekend, of it and visit Camano Island and Cama Beach state parks. There are nearly 20 miles of hiking trails in the parks. Cama Beach, a former fishing resort, offers waterfront cabins, while Camano Island has cabins and campsites. You can rent a boat from The Center for Wooden Boats at Cama Beach. You can also play 18 holes at Camaloch Golf Course (camalochgolf.com).
