Reaction rolling in to the stunning news of Chris Petersen stepping down as head coach at Washington

Washington Head Coach Chris Petersen stunned the college football world this morning by announcing his resignation from the program once the Huskies have played in their upcoming bowl game. Jimmy Lake will take over as head coach, a press conference is scheduled for Tuesday.

Reactions are coming and as expected, the news is stunning virtually everyone.

Petersen isn’t taking another job immediately, however the speculation over the longtime pairing of the soon-to-be former Huksy coach at USC could continue to linger.

Chris Petersen now joins former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops and former Florida/Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer as coaches who have left the college game in their 50s and in stunning fashion.

When you think about the Chris Petersen legacy, Jon Wilner nails it here.

This story will continue to update as reactions continue to roll in.
