NFL mock drafts see Seahawks targeting defense with the 27th pick
It’s the most “mockiest” time…of the year.
You get it, it’s NFL mock draft time.
With the end of the NFL season and the slow and grinding transition into the combine and the draft, you’ve got the always interesting NFL mock drafts. The Seattle Seahawks will be picking 27th when the NFL world descends on Las Vegas this coming April. So, who do draft prognosticators have the Seahawks picking near the end of the first round in the 2020 NFL Draft?
The NFL.com experts each have the Seahawks going defense.
Daniel Jeremiah: Ross Blacklock (DT, TCU)
Lance Zierlein: A.J. Epenesa (Edge, Iowa)
Bucky Brooks: Yetur Gross-Matos (Edge, Penn State)
I’m starting to sense a theme here….
Ryan Wilson: Yetur Gross-Matos (Edge, Penn State)
Chris Trapasso: Grant Delpit (S, LSU)
Josh Edwards: A.J. Epenesa (Edge, Iowa)
My personal favorite from this bunch is Delpit from LSU, really enjoy his game and could be a boost to a secondary that needs some help.
Another LSU player, offensive lineman Lloyd Cushenberry, comes off the board here, but it isn’t Delpit. Here’s what The Draft Network’s Kyle Crabbs has to say about the Tigers’ offensive line prospect.
“Seattle’s needs along the offensive line are well documented. The team experienced a lack of depth on the inside and will likely bid farewell to OT Germain Ifedi in free agency this off-season. All of that adds up to a logical fit in Seattle for Lloyd Cushenberry, a big winner from the Senior Bowl week — which was a criteria that helped prompt the Seahawks to draft LJ Collier at the end of the 1st-round in last year’s 2019 NFL Draft.”
More offensive line help in the form of Solomon Kindley (OL, Georgia), another SEC offensive lineman.
SI.com’s Kevin Hanson’s pre-Super Bowl mock draft has the Seahawks taking the edge rusher Julian Okwara from Notre Dame.
Here’s what Hanson has to say about the former Fighting Irish prospect.
Only the Dolphins (23) recorded fewer sacks than the Seahawks (28) in 2019 and both Jadeveon Clowney and Ezekiel Ansah are potential free agents. Okwara’s season was cut short (fibula) and he has lacked consistency, but he’s a long and explosive athlete that has racked up 13.5 sacks and 19.5 TFL in 22 games over the past two seasons.
More secondary help on the way possibly? The Athletic projects Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs.
Another Alabama prospect, Terrell Lewis. This time it comes from the linebacker corps.
