For Evergreen: 2019 MLS Cup Champion Seattle Sounders debut a new kit for the 2020 season
A new MLS season is around the corner and the reigning MLS Cup Champion Seattle Sounders joined the rest of the league in debuting new kits on Wednesday evening.
There are multiple elements that make up the new design celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the blue pays tribute to the Puget Sound, and also pays homage to the early primary colors of the blue uniforms from the 1970s.
There’s also a few new elements to the Sounders uniforms.
Cascadia Flag-On the back of the jersey at the neck line, is an image of the Cascadia Flag. The flag is an image of a Douglas fir that represents British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon.
Washington jock tag-Near the bottom of the jersey is a blue state of Washington insignia that represents the team’s commitment to the state.
The Sounders will begin their 2020 season on February 20 in the CONCACAF Champions League on the road in Honduras to face Olimpia at 7 p.m.. The 2020 MLS season begins March 1 as the Chicago Fire face Seattle at CenturyLink Field at noon.
