MLB The Show 20: Why picking the Mariners to play in franchise mode might be a good thing

Each year when baseball fans put on their gamer hats to play Sony’s MLB The Show, a good number play the franchise mode which turns them into virtual GM’s for a lucky franchise. You usually have three tiers of selection when you’re thinking of making that journey to become the best in baseball.

Some will go for the instant title run so they’re gonna pick a team like the Cubs, Yankees, or Dodgers. Then you have your more moderate builds so you’ll get a team like the White Sox, Pirates, or Blue Jays.

Finally, there is the bottom tier. That is home to the Tigers, Orioles and your hometown Seattle Mariners. Those teams are the projects, they’ll take a year or two (or five) to go from the basement to the top of the heap.

According to Operation Sports, MLB The Show 20 is a perfect opportunity to use the Seattle Mariners as a team you can build towards a title.

“Seattle would be a great franchise option and a perfect location for a World Series. The biggest challenge when leading the Mariners will be the strength of the division. First and foremost, you will have to battle with the Houston Astros and their powerful lineup. Second, you will have to take on the upgraded talent of the Los Angeles Angels and steady Oakland A’s.”

When the game debuts on March 17, will you lead the Mariners from the cellar to world champions?
