NHL to bring historical exhibit to Seattle area from March 7-10 and features NHL icon Willie O’Ree

NHL Seattle will be hosting a hockey legend this coming March.

The NHL’s Black Hockey History Tour will be stopping through Seattle from March 7 through March 10. On Saturday March 7 the first ever black player in the NHL will be in attendance. Willie O’Ree of the Boston Bruins entered the league in 1957 playing just two games for the Bruins but returned to the team to play a 43-game stint in the 1960-61 season.

The mobile museum celebrates today’s hockey stars, while looking back at the pioneers and trailblazers who helped shape NHL history. Visitors, who enter the bus free of charge, learn about some of the biggest moments, milestones and playmakers in hockey.

Here are the locations and dates that the museum will be in Seattle and surrounding areas.

March 7: Northwest African American Museum (11 a.m.-6 p.m.)

March 8: Seattle Center (International Fountain) (10 a.m.-6 p.m.)

March 10: Matt Griffin YMCA (SeaTac) (2:30 p.m.-6 p.m.)
