Post NFL Combine mock draft round up: Did anything in Indy help shake up the Seahawks draft plans?
The 2020 NFL Combine has come and gone, now it’s time for the private workouts and college pro days. It’s still over a month and change till the 2020 NFL Draft in Las Vegas (April 23-25). It’s a long road from now to April, but is there any chance that the combine did anything to impact some of the Seahawks mock drafts that are out there?
Nothing has changed when it comes to what the Seahawks are doing according to NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah. The Seahawks stay on defense.
Daniel Jeremiah: Trevon Diggs (CB, Alabama)
More defense with some help on the offensive line sprinkled in. Per usual for most Seahawks mock drafts. Here’s what the CBS Sports experts are guessing for Seattle.
Pete Prisco: Yetur Gross-Matos (Edge, Penn State)
Ryan Wilson: Neville Gallimore (DL, Oklahoma)
Chris Trapasso: Ezra Cleveland (OL, Boise State)
Josh Edwards: Trevon Diggs (CB, Alabama)
Tom Fornelli: A.J. Epenesa (Edge, Iowa)
The Draft Network: Trade out of Rd. 1 to Chargers
This sounds about right here, if a team like the Chargers or anybody else who has an early pick can’t get the guy they want then either trading down or getting back into the first round is a potentially advantageous move here.
USA Today Draft Wire: Antonie Winfield Jr. (S, Minnesota)
More secondary help, wouldn’t be a bad thing if you’re Seattle and on the chance that the Seahawks draft Winfield, it’s a big time pick up.
Sports Illustrated: Trevon Diggs (CB, Alabama)
Who’s ready for more trades?
The Seahawks and Packers make a deal for the following…
Packers Get
Seahawks (Pick No. 27)
Seahawks Get
Packers (Picks No. 30 and 94)
The Athletic: Trevon Diggs (CB, Alabama)
Starting to sense a trend here...
ESPN: Yetur Gross-Matos (Edge, Penn State)
Here’s what ESPN’s Todd McShay says about the edge rusher from Penn State.
“The Seahawks tied for second-fewest sacks in the NFL (28) last year, but Gross-Matos is an above-average pass-rusher who had 9.5 sacks last season with the Nittany Lions. He might need a little time to develop and refine his game, but he has a chance to be a problem for opponents when turned loose.”
A two-round mock draft? Ambitious and I like it. In the mock draft from Yahoo Sports, here is who Seattle takes with their two picks.
Round 1: Terrell Lewis (Edge, Alabama)
Round 2: Lucas Niang (OT, TCU)
Bleacher Report: Marlon Davidson (DL, Auburn)
It’s not the pre-combine seven-round mock draft that was previously done, but Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller stays in line with what has been expected from the Seahawks if they stay in the No. 27 spot. Here’s what Miller has to say about the pick.
“Marlon Davidson at the end of Round 1 gives Seattle the push, penetration and power up front it likes in linemen. Davidson can play 5-technique all the way down to head-up on the center with his 6’3”, 303-pound frame and has proved on film and in workouts that he has the talent to be a Day 1 contributor.”
