Mariners MLB The Show simulation: Vogelbach goes deep twice, Mariners snap losing streak

MLB The Show 20 Simulation: May 5, 2020

Seattle Mariners (10-27) vs. Oakland Athletics (20-17)

It feels like a sad repeat story for the Mariners in the virtual world of MLB The Show 20. A great effort after a slow start still ends up in a loss at the end of the night. Losers of three in a row, Seattle faces Oakland on Tuesday night looking to get a much needed win. Here’s a look at tonight’s pitching matchup.

Today’s pitching matchup

Yusei Kikuchi (SEA)

0-4 (4.81 ERA)

Vs.

Chris Bassitt (OAK)

1-2 3.93 ERA

Game Highlights

So...I guess the Mariners bats decided to show up early. Daniel Vogelbach takes the A’s Chris Bassitt deep to give Seattle an early lead. (3-0 Seattle)

Down to their last out in the top of the second, Dee Gordon laces a ball right up the middle to score Dylan Moore and extends the Mariners lead. (4-0 Seattle)

Ladies and gentlemen, Daniel Vogelbach is clearly tired of losing. Another bomb makes the score 5-0 Seattle in the third inning. (5-0 Seattle)

Oakland plates two across in the bottom of the fourth inning to add some interest to the ballgame. Seattle still leads in the middle innings. (Seattle 5-3)

Seattle adds onto their lead with a Dylan Moore RBI groundout to score Austin Nola, this team rarely plays with a lead so it’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next few innings. (6-3 Seattle)

To start the last half of the sixth, Kikuchi allows the first two runners on base and Yoshihisa Hirano has to come in. All he does is strike out three batters in a row, no big deal.

Another Vogelbach at bat, some more runs driven in. His single down the right base linse adds another run and Seattle looks comfortable headed into the bottom of the ninth. (7-3 Seattle)

The A’s put two runs across before the first out was made in the bottom of the ninth but a game-ending double play ball settles everything and Seattle ends their three-game losing streak.

Final Score: Seattle 7, Oakland 5
