MLS is Back, for everybody except FC Dallas. Sounders opening opponent of the tournament pulls out.

The first touch of the ball hasn’t even started for the MLS is Back Tournament and one team will not be back for a while at least.

On Monday afternoon, FC Dallas reportedly announced that they will not be participating in the tournament since they’ve had a high number of positive COVID-19 tests recently.

This throws a Texas-sized monkey wrench into the plans of the entire tournament and the Seattle Sounders, FC Dallas was matched up in Group B with the Sounders. The first matchup for FC Dallas against the Vancouver Whitecaps had already been postponed, now that leaves the tournament’s ambitious format up in the air. The tournament is still on as of this reading and will kick off with Orlando City FC facing Inter Miami CF on July 8 in Orlando.
