Coronavirus national sports: Sounders get new MLS schedule, UW-Big Ten non-conference game off table
As sports continue their attempt to return from league-wide stoppages due to the coronavirus The News Tribune will put together a running update of COVID-19-related sports news. These updates will track the ongoing developments and any breaking news from around the nation and world.
The Seattle Sounders second game of the MLS is Back Tournament will be against the team they opened the 2020 MLS campaign with. Due to the high number of COVID-19 cases from Nashville SC, they have been removed from the Tournament. FC Dallas, who was originally in Group B with Seattle, Vancouver and San Jose, also withdrew from the tournament after 10 players and one member of the technical staff were confirmed positive for COVID-19. The Chicago Fire will now slide in to Group B so every remaining team in the tournament will be in six groups of four. The top two teams in the group and the four best third-place finishers will meet in the knockout round starting July 25.

College Sports
We have our first major change to the college football schedule for 2020, according to The Athletic, the Big Ten will play a 10-game conference-only schedule in 2020. That means games like Michigan-Washington, Notre Dame-Wisconsin, and Ohio State-Oregon are now off the table.
The ACC announced on Thursday that the league will not begin play for Olympic sports until at least September 1, the future of these sports are mainly linked to the ongoing battle when it comes to playing football in the fall. On Wednesday, the Ivy League put a halt to all fall sports and until at least after January 1.
