The WNBA and ESPN expands broadcast schedule; Storm games a part of new deal
A successful weekend for the WNBA, from social media coverage to broadcasts hitting record numbers, has given way to the league and ESPN making a deal.
ESPN and the WNBA announced they are going to expand the broadcast schedule to 13 more games for the 2020 WNBA season. The deal brings the number of total games from 24 to 37, remaining the largest slate of WNBA games broadcast by the network.
From Aug. 15 to Sept. 10, games will be shown on the ESPN family of networks (ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC). The Seattle Storm will be featured in four of those games.
Here is a list of the Storm games added, with the games taking place at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
▪ Aug. 16, noon on ESPN, versus Connecticut Sun
▪ Aug. 22,Noon on ABC, versus Las Vegas Aces
▪ Aug. 25, 7 p.m. on ESPN2, versus Indiana Fever
▪ Aug. 29, 11 a.m. on ABC, versus Chicago Sky
On Saturday, Seattle faced off against the New York Liberty and won their season opener 87-71 at the IMG Academy. The Storm will play their next game against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Joe TV and CBS Sports Network.
