Another Kraken game postponed due to COVID-19 issues
The Seattle Kraken had a third game postponed on Monday, this time due to their ongoing COVID-19 issues.
The Kraken called off their Monday practice after defenseman Adam Larsson tested positive for COVID-19. Just a few hours later, the NHL announced that Tuesday’s game against the Arizona Coyotes at Climate Pledge Arena had been postponed.
Seattle had two games previously postponed — Sunday’s home game against Toronto and the road game against Calgary on Thursday. Make-up dates for all three games will be announced at a later date. The Kraken announced Monday evening that they wouldn’t practice again until after the holiday break.
Increased COVID-19 spread is causing disruptions across the NHL. More than 100 players and staff are currently in COVID-19 protocol. The Blue Jackets, Canadiens, Flames, Avalanche, Panthers, Bruins, Predators, Red Wings and Maple Leafs all had their seasons paused through the league’s holiday break.
The Kraken currently have three players — Larsson and defensemen Carson Soucy and Jamie Oleksiak — in COVID-19 protocol. Forwards Yanni Gourde, Riley Sheahan and Colin Blackwell were released from protocol on Monday.
Seattle’s next scheduled game is Dec. 27 at Vancouver.
