Another Seattle Kraken game postponed due to COVID-19

A seventh Seattle Kraken game has been postponed.

The NHL announced Monday that Thursday’s home game against Ottawa has been postponed due to the Senators’ COVID-19 outbreak. Tuesday’s game against the Islanders had already been postponed because of New York’s COVID issues. The Kraken now won’t play again until a road game at Colorado on Jan. 10. They aren’t scheduled to play again at Climate Pledge Arena until the Kings visit on Jan. 15.

Seattle also had a game at Winnipeg on Jan. 8 postponed due to an NHL postponement of all games in Canada due to attendance restrictions. The Kraken also announced on Monday that forward Alex Wennberg had entered COVID-19 protocol, joining Jeremy Lauzon.

The NHL will not be sending players to the Winter Olympics in Beijing next month due to the COVID-19 surge and subsequent postponements. The league will now use the three-week break scheduled in February to make up games that have been or will be postponed.

The Kraken announced Monday that forward Brandon Tanev had successful surgery on Dec. 30 to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. The recovery time is six-to-nine months. Tanev, who became a quick fan favorite, is expected to return at the start of next season.
