Steph Curry Makes 'Super Easy' Claim Before Play-In Game vs. Clippers

As the Golden State Warriors prepare for a high-stakes play-in game, Stephen Curry struck a confident tone when discussing the team's mindset. The star guard spoke about their approach as they head into a must-win situation after ending the regular season with a loss.

The Los Angeles Clippersbeat Golden State 115–110 on Sunday night in the regular-season finale. The result finalized the Warriors' 37–45 record. The 10th-seeded Warriors will travel to Los Angeles to face the ninth-seeded Clippers on Wednesday.

Curry scored 24 points in 29 minutes in Sunday's game. He continued to operate under a managed workload after returning on April 5 from a knee injury. The injury sidelined him for 27 games.

Speaking after the game, Curry addressed the upcoming rematch and the challenge of shifting into an elimination-game environment. He described that transition as "super easy" because of the team's experience in high-pressure situations.

"It's super easy because we've been there before, whether it's a Game 7 or that many play-in games that we've been fortunate enough to play in," the Warriors star told reporters. "So mentally, it's just come with the right approach, the right mentality."

Curry said the team understands the emotional swings that come with elimination games. He also pointed to the costly mistakes they have made in past play-in contests.

"As a group, we're going to have to withstand some runs," the 38-year-old veteran guard continued. "We know the ups and downs of you're not going to play perfect."

"But can we just play hard for 48 minutes and not shoot ourselves in the foot with turnovers like we did in the Sacramento game, or allowing a team to play to their strengths, and that's just game plan discipline," he added.

The Warriors have lost three play-in games in their history, including their most recent loss to the Sacramento Kings, 118–94 in 2024. However, Curry remains focused on the opportunity and welcomed the challenge ahead.

"If we can do those things, you can give yourself a chance, and that's all you want," he said. "It should be fun either way it goes."

The winner of the Warriors-Clippers matchup will move on to face the loser of the game between the Phoenix Suns and the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday. That winner will then advance to take on the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the opening round of the playoffs.
