Mets Place Player on Injured List Before Dodgers Game

The New York Mets are set to play the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road on Wednesday night. Before the game, New York made a roster move. According to Anthony DiComo, utility player Jared Young is being placed on the injured list due to a meniscus tear in his knee.

"News: Jared Young has a meniscus tear in his left knee. He goes on the IL. MJ Melendez up from Triple-A," DiComo reported.

Young, 30, is in his second season with the Mets. Overall, he has played in 139 total MLB games between the Mets and Chicago Cubs.

He made his New York debut in 2025, ultimately appearing in 22 contests with the ball club. Young struggled at the plate with a .156 batting average, but he did add versatility from a defensive standpoint. He is capable of handling duties at first base or in the outfield.

In 2026, Young was hitting .350/.391/.450 across 11 games played before suffering the knee injury. He also recorded an .841 OPS and two doubles. It seemed as if he was going to play a crucial role for the Mets this year, but now he is set to miss time.

The Mets will monitor and provide updates on his injury status as they are made available.

Mets Looking to End Losing Streak

The Mets were defeated 2-1 by the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The loss represented the ball club's seventh consecutive defeat. It has been an extremely challenging stretch for the Mets to say the least.

Overall, New York is now 7-11 and in last place in the National League East standings. The Mets had a respectable start to the season, so they are trying to find their rhythm once again.

Clay Holmes is set to start the contest on Wednesday night. He has pitched to a 1.50 ERA and a 2-1 record up to this point in the 2026 campaign. However, Shohei Ohtani, who has yet to surrender a run in 2026, will start for Los Angeles.

It will be another difficult task for a Mets team that is trying to get back on track. Snapping their losing streak against the defending champions is going to be difficult, but perhaps they can find a way to get the job done.

First pitch for the Dodgers and Mets clash on Wednesday night is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST in Los Angeles.
