Aces Sign Ex-Angel Reese Teammate After Year Away From the WNBA

The Las Vegas Aces have won three of the last four WNBA championships, and the team appears to be gearing up for a run at title No. 4.

The team re-signed A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young, Jewell Lloyd, Chelsea Gray, NaLyssa Smith, Dana Evans, and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, and Vegas brought in free agents Brianna Turner from the Indiana Fever and Stephanie Talbot from the New York Liberty.

On Wednesday, the Aces made another big acquisition, signing former Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter to a one-year deal for the league minimum.

"Chennedy Carter is returning to the #WNBA and will join the Las Vegas Aces, two sources familiar with the situation confirmed to the @TheIXSports this morning. The Aces needed some bench depth," Jackie Powell of Yahoo Sports reported.

Carter was out of the WNBA last year following her one-season run with the Sky, spending the 2024-25 season with the Wuhan Shengfan of the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association. She averaged 31.4 points per game and was the league's leading scorer.

During her year in Chicago, Carter led the team in scoring (17.5 points per game), and she was third in assists (3.1 per game). Carter infamously plays with an edge, and her behavior toward Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark earned her a reputation as a bit of a rough-around-the-edges player.

Carter was a member of the WNBA All-Rookie Team in 2020 after averaging 17.4 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game with the Atlanta Dream, who drafted her fourth overall that season.
