‘Fire Everyone': Mets Fans Erupt After 10-Game Losing Streak
A week ago, New York Mets owner Steve Cohen went on social media and asked his fan base for some patience.
Yes, the team was struggling, but there were silver linings. Their superstar player, Juan Soto, was out with an injury, but in the coming days, things would turn around like they generally do in baseball, and things would be alright.
On Saturday, the Mets dropped their 10th game in a row, losing to the Chicago Cubs, and there are no silver linings to distract fans from the dysfunction currently in Queens.

After the losing streak hit double digits, Mets fans bombarded Cohen and the official Mets social media accounts with their anger and frustration in a united effort.
“10 straight losses,” bellowed a mad Mets fan following the defeat. “They’ve been outscored by roughly 40 runs during this stretch. The bats are nonexistent, the bullpen is a house of cards, and Carlos Mendoza looks like he’s just waiting for his Uber to pull up to Wrigley. You can’t “process” your way out of a 7-13 start with a roster this expensive. #FireMendoza”
“Worst team in baseball,” chimed in another upset Mets supporter. “Nobody cares. Nobody plays hard. Mendoza will take the fall. But this is the smug boy wonder’s team. Half the guys out of position. Trying to replace power on the cheap. Dumpster fire. 7-14. Can’t wait for Steve to complain when Citi is empty next week.
For some fans, there’s no anger, only sadness about how the second-most-expensive roster in the MLB is performing so far in 2026.
“As a lifelong Met fan, I’m tired,” they posted on X. “Tired of the losing, tired of the incompetence, tired of the inconsistency, tired of the same disappointment year after year.”
The Mets will look to avoid the sweep against the Cubs on Sunday and stop the losing streak with David Peterson on the mound, who so far this season is 0-3 with a 6.41 ERA.
No silver linings there.
