Steelers GM Shares Telling Aaron Rodgers Update Before NFL Draft
Just three days before the NFL draft, reports emerged suggesting Aaron Rodgers defied the expectation from Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II that the team would have an answer regarding his status before the draft.
“The Steelers have not received word from Aaron Rodgers on his future and there is no expectation of a final decision prior to the NFL Draft,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported this morning. Despite reports to the contrary, Steelers general manager Omar Khan suggested nothing has changed regarding the team’s understanding of Rodgers’ plans.
“Nothing has changed, but it’s all been positive. He knows how we feel about him and how he feels about us,” Khan said about the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

With Rodgers still uncertain about his status for the 2026 season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter suggested the Steelers should look at former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the No. 21 pick.
“If Rodgers has not informed the team by Thursday night that he does in fact intend to return, Pittsburgh will need to have conversations about whether Simpson is in play with the No. 21 pick,” Schefter wrote. “But either way, the team is looking at taking a QB somewhere over the course of seven rounds.”
Khan also shot down a report that Steelers offensive lineman Broderick Jones suffered a setback in his recovery from a neck injury.
