Yankees Players Pushing For Alternate Uniforms Mid-Season

The New York Yankees are undoubtedly the most historic franchise in the MLB, but they're starting to lose some of their historic traditions.

Prior to the start of the 2025 season, the Yankees changed their facial hair and grooming policy. They went from having their players sporting a clean-shaven look to allowing "well-groomed beards."

"I did make the decision that the policy that was in place was outdated and given how important it is to that generation, and given that it is a norm in this world today, that it was somewhat unreasonable," Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said. "So I made the change."

Although nothing is set in stone just yet, it sounds like yet another policy could change in the Bronx.

According to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic, there are several players who spoke with "higher-ups" about wearing the navy blue batting practice jerseys during the regular season. These jerseys would be occasionally worn during road games.

The Yankees would need to receive approval from Steinbrenner. It's unclear if he's willing to make a significant change like this in the middle of the season.

Fans aren't exactly fond of this potential change.

"The blue top jerseys should stay in spring training where they belong," one fan said.

"How about they win a World Series for the first time in 17 years and then we'll talk," a second fan commented.

"These guys need to win a World Series or two before they have a say in Yankee tradition that has stood the test of time for over 100 years and 27 World Championships...PERIOD," a third fan wrote.

"If it's like the jersey in the photo, I think it looks great," another fan argued. "Gives the team another option & still looks classy. So much uproar about the beard policy and its worked out well. I think a City Connect with The Bronx on the front would be great too."

As of now, the Yankees are still riding with their pinstripe uniforms for home games and classic gray uniforms for road games.
