Jesse Marsch to USMNT? Tim Howard Sounds Warning After Matt Crocker Exit
Once again, the USMNT finds itself in the eye of the storm just months before the 2026 World Cup. Following Matt Crocker's departure from the federation, the position of the U.S. national team's head coach is once again in doubt.
The big question is whether Mauricio Pochettino will continue in charge of the USMNT after the World Cup in July, or even before then if the United States is eliminated at an earlier stage.
On his podcast Unfiltered Soccer, Tim Howard shared his opinion on who could be the next person in charge of U.S. Soccer.
"The right coach happens to live in Canada": Tim Howard.
In his episode with Landon Donovan, the former USMNT goalkeeper, he said that the next coach for the U.S. Federation should be Jesse Marsch, the current coach of the Canadian national team.
According to Howard: "Who are we tasking to actually go out and find us the next head coach, the right coach, who happens to live in Canada by the way."
Marsch started his coaching career at CF Montreal (or Montreal Impact) in the 2011/12 season. After that, he spent time in the New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Salzburg, Leipzig, Leeds United, and is currently coaching Canada's soccer team.
Also, Marsch was the assistant coach for the USMNT during 2010 and 2011, under Bob Bradley's wing - meaning he knows the system and how the U.S Federation managed things.
During his conversation with Donovan, Howard also stated that after the World Cup, Mauricio Pochettino will be out and that all signs point to U.S. Soccer hiring Jesse Marsch.
"So my point to you is Matt Crocker is gone, Porchettino comes July 18th or 19th. Mm-hmm. He's out."
What the former professional soccer player said is true, but that could change if the Argentine manager gets far in the World Cup.
