Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Jets Drafting David Bailey
The New York Jets took one of the best players in the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
The Jets had the second overall pick and selected edge rusher David Bailey from Texas Tech.
Bailey spent one season with the Red Raiders and was fantastic, finishing with 52 total tackles, 14.5 sacks, three passes defended, and a fumble recovery. He also set a career high with 19.5 tackles for loss.
Before his season with the Red Raiders, he spent three seasons with the Stanford Cardinal. He finished his collegiate career with 163 total tackles, 29 sacks, four passes defended, and a fumble recovery.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who spent his collegiate career with the Red Raiders, was super happy for Bailey after the Jets selected him.
"Wreck ‘Em!" Mahomes posted.

The Jets hope Bailey will be their next top pass rusher for the next several seasons. The Jets had another tough season in 2025, finishing with only three wins.
The Jets have finished below .500 for 10 seasons in a row and hope to snap that streak in 2026. They also haven't made the playoffs since the 2010 season, when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game.
Meanwhile, Mahomes is still recovering from a torn ACL and LCL that he suffered in December. He's hoping to be ready for the start of the 2026 NFL season in September and potentially lead the Chiefs back to the playoffs after they finished last season with a 6-11 record.
