NFL Fans Convinced Browns Are 'Building' Around Shedeur Sanders

The Cleveland Browns have not named Shedeur Sanders their starting quarterback for the 2026 season, but his chances of winning the job may have increased this week.

Instead of adding some competition to the quarterback room on Thursday night, the Browns drafted Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano with the No. 9 pick. He had 11 starts at left tackle and 24 at right tackle during his college career.

"His character was first, I mean, the way he's wired," Browns coach Todd Monken said. "I think the expectations that we will have for him won't even match that he has for himself. His athleticism, his toughness, I mean, when you want to start off the first year of your regime, you talk about what you want: character, toughness, athleticism, he has it all."

After addressing the offensive line with the No. 9 overall pick, the Browns selected Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion with the 24th overall pick. He was quite productive for the Aggies in 2025, hauling in 61 passes for 919 yards and nine touchdowns.

"I'm versatile. I make plays. I can play anywhere. I can run any route," Concepcion said. "Whenever I get there, you guys are going to be getting a dog all over the field."

By overlooking the quarterback class this April, the Browns may have tipped their hand for the upcoming season. It's not a stretch to think Sanders will be their starting quarterback. Of course, he's got to take care of business in training camp.

Are the Browns building around Shedeur?

Although the Browns have not yet named a Week 1 starter, countless fans and analysts are convinced the front office is building around Sanders.

"just got a 6'6 311lbs BEAST In Spencer Fano," NFL analyst Robert Griffin III said. "He moves like a tight end in a tackle body with elite lateral agility to pull out in space, get reach blocks in the run game and the balance to recover when initially beat. He gave up 0 sacks in 357 pass-pro snaps last year. THAT'S HOW YOU PROTECT SHEDEUR SANDERS."

"Shedeur says thank you for Spencer Fano," former Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless said.

"Shedeur to KC Concepcion is going to be special," one fan declared.

"Shedeur is top tier vs man coverage and the Browns just drafted one of the biggest playmakers in space that can separates with some of the best of them," another person wrote.

There's definitely more offensive talent on the Browns now, which was a point of emphasis coming into the first round.

Will Sanders take full advantage of Cleveland's revamped supporting cast? Only time will tell.
