Prep Highlights: Mountain View's Nick Wilcox, Brendon Lawson combine to no-hit Kelso baseball

Nick Wilcox and Brendon Lawson combined to throw a no-hitter as Mountain View baseball beat Kelso 1-0 on Thursday.

Wilcox pitched the first four innings, striking out one and walking two. Lawson struck out four and walked none over three innings.

Mountain View scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the second. Thunder catcher Legend Haskew reached on a single, advanced to third on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dylan Knox.

Kelso's pitchers were nearly as stingy. Blake Larwick and Westyn Bell combined to allow just two hits.

Thursday's win was crucial for Mountain View after dropping the first two of a three-game series against Kelso. The Thunder (10-6, 6-3) moved within one game of the first-place Hilanders (11-5, 7-2) in the 3A Greater St. Helens League standings.

Each team has three league games remaining.

Stars of the Day

Alyssa Rigby, Mountain View girls golf, scored a match-high 39 points to lead the Thunder to a 70-50 Stableford victory over Heritage at Fairway Village.

India Schmidt, Skyview girls golf, scored a match-high 31 points to lead the Storm to a 105-81 Stableford victory over Battle Ground at Tri-Mountain.

Lincoln Fogle, Camas baseball, pitched five shutout innings to earn the win on a 3-2 victory over Union.

Collin McGowan, Battle Ground baseball, allowed just one hit over six innings, striking out eight and walking none in a 6-0 win over Skyview.

Camren McCray, Prairie baseball, the leadoff hitter went 4 for 4 with a double and five stolen bases in a 7-2 win over Heritage in the first game of a doubleheader.

Josiah Machic-Sanic, Heritage baseball, pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits, walking one and striking out four in a 2-1 win over Prairie in the second game of a doubleheader.

Gavin Beckley, Woodland baseball, allowed one hit over 5 1/3 innings and was the winning pitcher in a 6-4 victory over Columbia River.

Collen Schultz, Stevenson baseball, went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI in a 10-0 win over Fort Vancouver.

Wyatt Brannan, La Center baseball, went 2 for 2 with a double and three RBI in a 12-1 win over Kalama.

Graham Dumas, Seton Catholic baseball, went 2 for 4 with two RBI, including a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh in a 3-2 win over Columbia-White Salmon.

Jack Kerker, Castle Rock baseball, went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI in a 9-1 win over King's Way Christian.

Mackenzie Moore, Prairie softball, went 3 for 3 with two home runs, a double and five RBI in a 12-2 win over Battle Ground.

Kendyl Wiest, Camas softball, went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and two RBI in an 8-1 win over Heritage.

Emily Hull, Columbia River softball, went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double and three runs scored in a 13-3 win over Hockinson.

Megan Fugleberg, Mark Morris softball, went 4 for 4 with two doubles, three RBI and five runs scored in a 16-0 win over Woodland.

Maggie Kender, Seton Catholic softball, had 12 strikeouts over six innings, walking none and allowing five hits in a 13-2 win over Columbia-White Salmon.

Sophia Brewer, King's Way Christian softball, threw a no-hitter, striking out 12 and walking three in an 8-0 victory over Castle Rock in the first game of a doubleheader.

Cayden Hulsey-Bible, Stevenson softball, went 2 for 5 with a home run, a double and two RBI in a 16-1 win over Fort Vancouver. She was also the winning pitcher, striking out 11 and allowing one hit over 5 2/3 innings.
