Jaila Ellis of Heritage softball is The Columbian 2025-26 Week 22 high school athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger.
Ellis received 876 of the 1,554 votes cast last week to win the honor.
The senior went 5 for 6 with two home runs, a double and 10 RBI and allowed no earned runs in two innings pitched in a pair of wins.
Nominees are selected by The Columbian staff after a review of the previous week's results. Suggestions for nominees can by made by anyone, but must be received by noon Monday for consideration.
Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.
Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday.
Here are the other Week 22 nominees:
RYDER COLE-VOGLER, HOCKINSON BOYS SOCCER: The senior had four goals and three assists in a pair of league wins for the Hawks.
JAMES GILL III, BATTLE GROUND BASEBALL: The senior went 4 for 7 with four walks, two home runs and 5 RBI and allowed no earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched in three wins over Camas.
LEILANI MAYS, UNION GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: The junior won the 100, 200 and 100-meter hurdles to be selected the female athlete of the meet at the Ingram Twilight.
ADDISON PAUL, WASHOUGAL GIRLS GOLF: The sophomore shot a 4-over-par 76 to the 2A GSHL 18-hole match at Lewis River.
