Meet The Longtime Girlfriend Of NFL Rookie Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier
Several months ago, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was projected to be a first-round pick. Although he didn't hear his name called on Day 1, he's expected to come off the board on Day 2 of the draft.
Nussmeier finished his career at LSU with 7,699 passing yards, 52 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. ESPN's Matt Miller currently has him as the No. 1 quarterback left on his big board.
"He is very confident in his arm talent, but that can sometimes get him in trouble at times -- he threw 12 interceptions in 2024. He has a quick, smooth release and does a good job at layering his throws between levels of the defense," Miller wrote. "He can anticipate and lead receivers before they get their head turned out of their breaks. Nussmeier can get in a rhythm, routinely hitting receivers in stride, but then will put the ball at risk by taking a chance on some unnecessary downfield shots. He has a good feel for pocket pressure and keeps his eyes downfield as he escapes."
One thing that makes Nussmeier an appealing prospect is his background. His father, Doug, is the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints. Prior to becoming a coach, he played in the NFL from 1994-1999.
Speaking of Nussmeier's personal life, he's been dating Ella Springfield for a while. They actually announced their engagement last summer.
"Forever and always, yes yes yes," she wrote on Instagram.
Springfield also posted this heartfelt message for Nussmeier after LSU's senior day last fall: "Forever thankful for this chapter!! So grateful for God's faithfulness and all He has planned next."
We'd say Springfield has what it takes to become a social media star, but she already has over 16,000 followers on Instagram.
Nonetheless, it wouldn't surprise us if Springfield gains way more followers this weekend.
Nussmeier fought threw a brutal injury to get to this point.
A mysterious injury slowed down Nussmeier during his final season at LSU. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, medical testing at the Scouting Combine uncovered a cyst on the quarterback's spine.
Although it sounds like a serious issue, Nussmeier should be ready to go for offseason workouts.
"Either way, doctors say, there is no short- or long-term risk for Nussmeier, who is projected a mid-round pick in this week's NFL Draft," Pelissero said.
We're wishing Nussmeier all the best as he gets ready for his rookie season in the NFL.
