Texans GM Sounds Off on Nico Collins Trade Rumor With Definitive Message

Just ahead of the NFL draft, insider Jordan Schultz reported teams were interested in trading for Houston Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins.

“Teams have called the #Texans to check on 2x Pro Bowl WR Nico Collins with an understanding in the league that he needs a contract adjustment,” Schultz reported. “It seems highly unlikely Houston would deal him, but teams have checked. Collins will make $20.6M this season when the WR market is double that.”

His report received a very strong response from Texans general manager Nick Caserio, who addressed reporters following the first three rounds of the draft on Friday night.

“I mean, look, teams call teams all the time to check in on players. We’re not trading Nico Collins. So, whoever reported it or came up with whatever information they had, they can take it and shove it. We’re not trading Nico,” Caserio said definitively.

Just two years ago, Collins signed a three-year, $75 million maximum value deal that included a $17 million signing bonus.

Collins is due $20 million fully guaranteed in 2026 and $21.25 million nonguaranteed in 2027. He has salary-cap figures of $27.517 million and $28.59 million over the next two years. He reportedly restructured his contract to create $9.8 million in salary cap space last year as the Texans converted his $13.5 million base salary into a $12.33 million signing bonus.

Collins capped off his third straight season with at least 1,000 yards and six touchdowns when he hauled in 71 receptions for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns during the 2025 season.
