Jarrod Bowen and Pablo missed their penalties for West Ham United, while Joel Piroe was the only Leeds United player to miss a penalty kick. Pascal Struijk scored the winning penalty in the shootout for Leeds.

Chelsea and Leeds United played each other twice this season in the Premier League, with Leeds having favourable results. In the previous matchup, Chelsea and Leeds drew 2-2 at Stamford Bridge, with Noah Okafor scoring the equalizer in the 73rd minute.
