Angel Reese Shows Great Maturity In Her Return To Chicago
Angel Reese made her return to Chicago on Wednesday night.
The former Sky forward, who was shockingly traded to Atlanta after two All-Star seasons, made her 2026 preseason debut against her old team. Reese, a first round pick of the Sky out of LSU in 2024, didn't have the best performance on the court on Wednesday evening.
Reese, a two-time WNBA All-Star, scored eight points on 2 of 7 shooting, including 4 for 8 from the free throw line. It was a rough preseason debut for the third-year forward. However, off of the court, Reese showed great maturity.
While it would be understandable for someone in Reese's situation to be out for revenge - it's not often that a young WNBA star gets traded to a new team after just two seasons - she showed good maturity.
Reese, originally from Maryland, made it clear that there is no bad blood between her and the Sky. She understands that the WNBA is a business. The Sky did what they believe is best for the future of the franchise. Reese, meanwhile, needs to make the best of her new situation in Atlanta.
It could be a win-win for everyone involved.
Reese shows good head on her shoulders with Chicago comments
Reese was asked before the game if there was any bad blood. She quickly shot that narrative down.
"No. Just another exciting opportunity for me to be in Chicago. I love my experience in Chicago," Reese said. "It was amazing. Seeing a lot of familiar faces on Wednesday is gonna be good to see."
Reese played well in Chicago for the first two seasons of her career. However, the team struggled to win. The Sky went 10-34 last season and missed the playoffs for the second straight year.
The former LSU star was clearly frustrated with the state of the franchise. Rather than build around her, the Sky chose to ship her out and rebuild with more draft assets.
Now, Reese is excited for her new team.
"There's no ceiling," Reese said of her new team. "I watched them from afar last year and then being able to see the success, that's the reason why I wanted to be able to come here, because I thought I can help them in ways, and they can help me in ways."
