The Truth Behind the Indiana Fever's Deleted Caitlin Clark Post

The Indiana Fever deleted an Instagram post on Thursday after Caitlin Clark called out an obvious mistake in the photo.

The post featured Clark and teammate Aliyah Boston in full Fever gear, posing for the camera. The problem with the photo is that Clark's hand looked off. Apparently, the Fever used an AI tool that significantly changed the appearance of the 24-year-old's hand in the photo.

"New hand alert," wrote Clark in the comments section. The call-out ultimately led the Fever to delete the post following the embarrassing mishap.

Yanyan Li of Front Office Sports provided more light on the incident in a new report.

According to Front Office Sports' source, "the error with Clark's hand came from using an AI tool in an attempt to combine an image of Clark with a separate image of Boston."

The source, however, declined to name the specific AI design software that was used by the Fever.

It is not uncommon for Clark to comment on the Fever's social media posts. On occasion, she uses the team's Instagram posts to poke fun at her teammates or even herself.

Clark often takes a light-hearted approach with her reactions. This appeared to be the nature of her comment on her hand in the now-deleted post. The former WNBA Rookie of the Year did not seem offended, but she just had to call out the glaring mistake.

AI has emerged as a very powerful and helpful tool, particularly on social media. It is not perfect, though, and this was a lesson the Fever's media team learned with this recent mishap.

As for their basketball, Clark and Co. are back in action on Saturday in a preseason game against the Nigeria Women's National Team.

Clark, who suffered an injury scare in the Fever's 95-80 preseason loss to the Dallas Wings on Thursday, is not listed on the injury report for Saturday's contest. She should be good to go for Indiana's final preseason contest.

The Fever open their season on May 9 with a rematch against the Wings.
