The newest league rivalry contest on the pitch wrote another chapter on Friday night in Winlock. Two first half goals and a change in formation pushed the Loggers to a dramatic 2-1 victory over United in 1A Trico action.

It's the fourth win of the season for Onalaska (4-12, 4-11 Trico), continuing to establish a new mark for most wins in a single season for the young program. Askel Iverson scored a penalty kick in the 10th minute and after a scrum at the front of the net, Adrian Garcia found Kolby Iverson to double the lead in the 25th minute.

Loggers head coach Luis Magana still made sure to give his group a dose of reality at halftime.

"I explained that we can not let up and play relaxed," he said. "The other team is going to come out strong and with urgency. If they get one back that is a big momentum shift especially if they score it early."

United did find the back of the net on a Luis Hernandez free kick that caromed off the noggin of an Onalaska defender to cut the margin in half. Magana switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation and kept United (5-9, 5-9) off the scoreboard over the final 20 minutes.

Neither program will be in the district tournament. Onalaska closes with a date against Kalama on Tuesday while United has two more league games left, starting with Seton Catholic on Monday.

"I am so proud of these boys for the effort they have given all season fighting through all types of adversity and always leaving it all on the field," Magana said. "This young team is hungry and I am excited about what the future will bring. It was also great to see all the support from the Onalaska community, who made the short trip to Winlock and made the atmosphere great for the players to play in front of."
