Despite 12 hits and a manageable deficit, the Beavers couldn't find the final dose of magic and fell to the Grizzlies 13-3 in six innings at Olympic Stadium on Friday afternoon to miss out on the postseason.
A year after graduating one of the most decorated senior classes in school history, Tenino (3-16, 2-10 Evergreen) were on the doorstep of playing at least one more game. It led 1-0 on a Jensen Werner double, but never was in front again.
Hoquiam, who will be in the Class 1A District 4 pigtail game, put together a four-run first and put the contest on ice by putting up six in the fifth and scored the final two runs in the sixth to end the game early.
Easton Miller, Sawyer Noonan and Brayden Bennett joined Werner with two hits for Tenino. Bennett also stole two bases while Miller and Johnson recorded an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, respectively. The Beavers will take on Adna in their regular season finale on Tuesday.
