Roman Reigns' WWE Future in Question After New Development

Roman Reigns is the current face of the WWE and has been for nearly the past decade, having main-evented WrestleMania 11 times over his illustrious career.

And following WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, it appeared as if Reigns was beginning another consistent run for the company. He defeated CM Punk for the world heavyweight championship to close out the show, then announced that, after years as a special attraction, he was done being “part-time” and would be on WWE throughout the entire summer.

While that might have been the case a few weeks ago, things might have changed.

More news: 3 WWE Superstars Who Could Challenge Roman Reigns for the Title

On Saturday, longtime act and one of the company’s most successful tag teams in history, The New Day of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston, left the company following multiple reports of the WWE trying to restructure their contracts.

Roman Reigns was scheduled to appear on “Monday Night Raw” on Netflix throughout June and was prominently featured in the show’s promotional material, but that all changed Saturday night when his June dates were removed, and the WWE updated the “Raw” banner on its site to exclude him.

While there is no confirmation that TKO, the umbrella company of WWE, is also attempting to restructure Reigns’ multi-million-dollar contract, the shift in dates has left pro wrestling fans wondering if trouble is afoot within the company.

It wouldn’t be the first time TKO has lost one of its biggest stars due to contract disputes, as former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou left the company in a drama-filled saga.

Three years later, WWE fans are experiencing similar frustration to UFC fans, as TKO is seemingly investing heavily in its development system down in Florida and is more willing to move on from experienced acts carrying sizeable contracts.

Reigns is scheduled to defend his newly won heavyweight title next weekend in Tampa Bay at the premium live event Backlash against his cousin, Jacob Fatu. Although Reigns is widely expected to win to continue his title run through the summer, a loss could raise more questions about his future within the company amid massive changes.
