Michigan 'Shocked' 5-Star Cornerback During Visit
Cornerback Joshua Dobson, out of the 2027 recruiting class, recently took a visit with the Michigan Wolverines. As featured in a TikTok post on April 17, he got the full experience, touring campus, the team's football facilities, meeting with head coach Kyle Whittingham and watching a practice.
It was a key visit for the Wolverines, who are squarely in the race for Dobson's commitment. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 185 pounds, he is a highly valued target. The defender is listed as a five-star recruit, the No. 3 cornerback and the No. 9 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.
After spending time in Ann Arbor, Dobson spoke to Rivals' Chad Simmons to give an update on his recruitment. The five-star cornerback praised the Wolverines and made it clear he wants to go back.
"They shocked me," Dobson said. "The academics, alumni network and overall fit really impressed me up there. I am working to get back up there for an official visit. We have talked about the middle of May, but it is not set up yet."
While Michigan did make a strong impression, they're just one of several programs pushing for Dobson. Simmons noted that he had official visits lined up with the Auburn Tigers (May 29), Texas A&M Aggies (June 5), LSU Tigers (June 12) and South Carolina Gamecocks (June 19).
Whittingham and his staff have a lot of ground to make up if they wish to come out on top. According to the Rivals recruiting prediction machine, Texas A&M has the best chance (60.1%) to land Dobson, with LSU second (27.9%).
