Draymond Green Makes His Feelings Clear on Warriors Future

The Golden State Warriors entered the 2025-26 NBA season believing they still had a legitimate championship window.

After reaching the second round the year before and having a full season with veteran star Jimmy Butler to pair with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, expectations around the league were that the team had one final serious run with its dynasty core.

Instead, the season spiraled into one of the most disappointing campaigns of the Steve Kerr era.

Golden State finished just 37-45, battled injuries all season, and landed in the Play-In Tournament for a third straight year before being eliminated by the Phoenix Suns.

The collapse immediately triggered major questions about the future of the franchise nucleus.

Kerr's coaching future became a national storyline amid reports he was weighing whether to return, while Curry and Green sit as two aging stars nearing the end of their respective careers.

The Warriors now enter the offseason confronting the reality that the group's championship era may finally be over.

Now, Green has reportedly made his opinion known on how he sees his future with the Warriors playing out.

On Wednesday, Green revealed during an appearance on “Inside the NBA” that he still sees himself finishing his career in Golden State. Green also said during a Kendall-Jackson dinner conversation that he wants to remain with the Warriors and would "work fairly" on a new arrangement if the franchise wants him back and treats him fairly.

Green, now 36, has spent his entire NBA career with Golden State after being selected in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft.

Since then, he has become a four-time NBA champion, four-time All-Star, 2017 Defensive Player of the Year, nine-time All-Defensive selection, two-time All-NBA selection, and two-time Olympic gold medalist.

Widely viewed as one of the greatest defenders and high-IQ basketball players of his generation, Green helped redefine modern "small-ball" basketball alongside Curry and Klay Thompson.

That’s why the thought of him playing anywhere else has drawn so much attention.

Green has repeatedly shut down any rumors of leaving the franchise, saying he is not retiring from basketball and still wants to remain with the Warriors.

At the same time, however, Green has clearly begun preparing for life after basketball.

While he has periodically been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers because of his close relationship with LeBron James, and Detroit occasionally surfaces due to his Michigan roots, there has never been serious momentum toward another team.

Green's identity is deeply tied to Golden State's dynasty, and it’s far more likely we see him follow a path similar to Charles Barkley or Shaquille O’Neal, transitioning directly from star player into television personality and basketball ambassador.

His growing media presence through his “The Draymond Green Show” podcast, regular TNT appearances, and league analysis has only strengthened the idea that broadcasting could become his next full-time career whenever he eventually steps away from the court.
