Fever's Caitlin Clark Shares Immediate Reaction to Season Opening Loss
The 2026 WNBA season didn’t start how Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever dreamt it as the team suffered a 107-104 loss to Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the loss, Clark made it clear she felt good about how the game evolved and thought she was just a few buckets away from leading her team to victory.
“I feel good,” Clark said. “Started off a little slow, I think just the anxiety of the first game, trying to work through that. But overall, I felt good, felt fast out there. Felt like I was literally a couple buckets away from putting together a really, really good game and helping us win.”

Clark finished the game with 20 points, seven assists and five rebounds. She struggled from beyond the arc, though, connecting on just 2-of-9 three points attempts and led all players with five turnovers on the afternoon.
The star guard noted her slow start to the game, but warmed up in the second half as she shot 50% from the field and had five of her seven assists. Three-time All-Star teammate Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 30 points while Fever star Aliyah Boston picked up right where she left off last season with another strong performance by dropping 23 points.
The Wings were led by four-time All-Star and 2020 scoring champion Arike Ogunbowale, who poured in 22 points for the Wings. Bueckers, the reigning Rookie of the Year, and 2019 All-Star and All-WNBA selection Odyssey Sims each added 20 points.
