Final Injury Report for Mercury-Valkyries: Will Tiffany Hayes, Cecilia Zandalasini Play?

The Golden State Valkyries are at home on Sunday night as they host the Phoenix Mercury in a Western Conference matchup.

Golden State enters Sunday's game with a 1-0 record after defeating the Seattle Storm on the road on Friday night.

In Friday's victory over the Storm, Veronica Burton led the way for the Valkyries as she recorded 16 points and six rebounds while Janelle Salaun added 20 points and two rebounds of her own off the bench.

Now Golden State will try to grab another victory on Sunday as they face off against the Mercury in a tough home matchup.

On the other side, Phoenix enters Sunday's contest with a 1-0 record after defeating the Las Vegas Aces on the road in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon.

Alyssa Thomas led the way for the Mercury in Saturday's victory as she ended the game with 20 points, six rebounds and nine assists while Jovana Nogic recorded 19 points and four assists.

While both teams are looking to pick up a victory in Sunday night's matchup, both squads may be without multiple key players due to injuries.

Mercury Injury Report: Will Monique Akoa Makani Play?

For the Mercury, they have three players listed on their injury report, including Monique Akoa Makani.

Phoenix has ruled out Akoa Makani due to an overseas commitment as she is expected to miss at least the first four games of the season.

The Mercury have also ruled out Sami Whitcomb due to left knee surgery that is expected to sideline her for at least four weeks while Valeriane Ayayi remains out while waiting for FIBA clearance to play both overseas and for Phoenix.

On the other side, the Valkyries have four players listed on their injury report, including both Tiffany Hayes and Cecilia Zandalasini.

Golden State has ruled out Hayes due to a dislocated left pinky that she suffered in Friday's victory as she will miss her first game of the season.

The Valkyries have also ruled out Zandalasini due to a concussion and jaw injury that she suffered in Friday's game.

Iliana Rupert has also been ruled out due to pregnancy, while Juste Jocyte remains away from the team because of an overseas commitment.

Fans can catch Sunday night's matchup between the Mercury and Valkyries from the Chase Center at 8:30 p.m. ET.
