Surprise Team Rising Fast in Odds to Sign LeBron James
Will LeBron James wear the purple and gold ever again?
Following his and the team’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs, James will have a big decision on his hands heading into free agency.
Does he retire? Does he go one more round with the Lakers with a healthy Luka Doncic? Or does he go elsewhere for what could be his final campaign in the NBA, trying to win that elusive fifth ring?
With rumors circulating online that James might even consider signing for the player minimum in the offseason to help whichever team he chooses to contend for a title, a new franchise has shot up the odds over the past day since L.A.’s elimination from the postseason.

Per Kalshi, the prediction website, James staying with the Lakers or retiring is still the betting favorite at 57%.
In second, the other obvious choice for James is the Cleveland Cavaliers, who would both put a poetic bow on the legend’s career and give him a strong chance to make another NBA Finals in a more wide-open Eastern Conference.
Behind the Cavs at 27%, there’s the Golden State Warriors, who have been open about their interest in pairing James with fellow legend Steph Curry for a possible final dance between the two cornerstone players.
But the team that has risen up the rankings to now sit fourth on Kalshi are the San Antonio Spurs, who are on the verge of reaching the Western Conference finals following their Game 5 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.
Although a seemingly odd choice, if James is open to taking a massive pay cut, it might be the perfect choice for the veteran who wants a legitimate shot at another championship.
He would have the chance to pass the torch of the league’s face to Victor Wembanyama, while also mentoring a slew of young players, which would allow James to do all the little things instead of needing to be a superhero.
Although only at 6% at the moment, as more news breaks daily about the Lakers and their vision for the future, the Spurs might become a legitimate landing spot for James this offseason.
