Francisco Lindor Injury Update Announced After 18 Missed Games

Francisco Lindor has been a consistent producer for the New York Mets since arriving in 2021. Lindor appeared in at least 160 games in three of the last four years for the Mets, recording more than 600 plate appearances in each season. The two-time Gold Glove winner has hit at least 31 home runs in each of the last three seasons and joined the 30-30 club (at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases) in 2023 and 2025.

The Puerto Rico native has been sidelined since sustaining a calf injury on April 22 against the Minnesota Twins. The five-time All-Star has now missed 18 games for the struggling Mets (17-25, last place in the National League East).

On Thursday, manager Carlos Mendoza provided an update on the four-time Silver Slugger Award winner. When asked for an update on Lindor, Mendoza said Lindor is showing signs of healing, is focusing on improving his strength and will then focus on conditioning.

"He is getting better, showing signs of healing," Mendoza said. "Now we are moving to the phase where the strength part, in the weight room, before he starts his running progression. So, positive sign, we just got to let it heal."

When asked a follow-up question about further imaging before fully ramping up, Mendoza said he did not believe that would be necessary. The Mets manager also confirmed that the timetable remains unclear for when the star shortstop will return to action.

"I don't think so," Mendoza continued. "They didn't say anything about that. He just now, like I said, with the strength part now, and then we can start progressing."

New York's next game will be against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday at 1:10 p.m. ET.
