Packers Need to Take the Pressure Off Jordan Love in 2026
The Green Bay Packers had lukewarm season, and while it’s nothing to be ashamed of, the team fell short of their potential. The team ended the season No. 2 in the NFC North with a 9-7 record.
The Packers have a strong quarterback in Jordan Love, but to really capitalize on his potential, they have to take the pressure off of him. That’s a point being made by NFL analysts during the offseason, and it makes sense.
In a feature out on Tuesday, May 12, on each NFL team’s biggest weakness at this point in the season, Christian D’Andrea of USA Today’s For the Win says that the Packers have to both protect Jordan Love and clear space for Josh Jacobs going into the 2026-27 season.

“Green Bay paid a lot of money for Aaron Banks, who underwhelmed his first season as the team’s left guard,” she notes. “It’s turning left tackle over to Jordan Morgan, a 2024 first round pick who wasn’t great as an interior lineman but showed flashes of his Day 1 potential while working on the outside.”
She adds: “2025 second round pick Anthony Belton’s rookie season was uneven and frustrating. By those powers combined, the Packers fielded a below-average run game and Jordan Love faced pressure on more than 35 percent of his dropbacks.”

Love is where it’s at for the Packers. During the 2025 season, he passed for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns and had just 6 interceptions, according to ESPN research, over 15 games. He snagged an 88.5 overall PFF grade, which was fifth among 43 qualified quarterbacks. The Packers are sitting on a goldmine with Love, but yes, they have to protect him and take the pressure off of him in the zone.
