Jake Paul Promises ‘More to Come' After Rousey-Carano Delivers Record Ratings
It's safe to say the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight card more than lived up to expectations.
Netflix revealed the final viewership numbers on Tuesday, and the bout was the most-watched MMA fight in the United States, peaking at 9.3 million viewers during the main event.
"17 million global viewers tuned in to watch Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano on Netflix, averaging 12.4 million viewers across the triple main event! #RouseyCarano," Netflix posted on X.
It didn't take long for Jake Paul, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions - a boxing and MMA promotional company, along with adviser Nakisa Bidarian - to respond to the overwhelming success of the company's debut MMA show.
"MVP MMA was incredible. Put it in perspective…how did XFL do compared to the NFL?" Paul posted on X. "What we did here is unprecedented and great for the sport. Congrats to all. More to come…"
Some believed the Rousey-Carano card was a one-off publicity stunt by Paul to make some quick cash, however, after the event, Paul admitted MVP has more events planned for its fans.
In fact, Bidarian told ESPN that MVP MMA 2 is already in the works.
"My hope is that we do it with Netflix, but there’s also Amazon, Fox and many other players who hopefully saw what we did tonight and are excited about the opportunity to work with us," he said.
Paul added: "There were so many MMA legends in the building, and it just feels like we blossomed something new here that everyone wants to be a part of. It’s a new vision and a new tunnel for people to explore now."
MVP promoted its inaugural event with big names in the MMA world including former UFC champions Francis Ngannou and Junior dos Santos, ex-UFC welterweight challenges Mike Perry and Nate Diaz, and MMA up-and-comers Philipe Lins, Salahdine Parnasse, amd Adriano Moraes.
Bidarian stated he hopes the success of the company's debut event attracts other big-name fighters to join MVP.
