Aaron Rodgers Reveals Honest Opinion of Steelers Offseason Moves
Aaron Rodgers led the Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs in his first season with the team, but his return for a second season wasn’t guaranteed.
In a meeting with reporters on Wednesday, Rodgers revealed he thought his career with the team was over after Mike Tomlin stepped down from his role as head coach. However, after Mike McCarthy was hired, the future Hall of Fame quarterback opened his mind to potentially coming back.
After signing a new one-year deal with the Steelers, Rodgers comes back to a noticeably different team than the one he left in the offseason.

Rodgers revealed he thought the team was close to contending last year and “felt like we needed a lineman probably at some point.” The team answered that call by drafting offensive lineman Max Iheanachor in the first round.
“Thought we needed somebody who could work in the slot, and obviously [Germie Bernard] being picked there is a guy that could do it. Bringing in [Michael] Pittman [Jr.] was obviously a good addition, Rico Dowdle, Jamel [Dean] on defense, [Jaquan] Brisker as well. A lot of good pieces added to the mix,” Rodgers said.
While the veteran quarterback likely didn’t have final control over the roster decisions, the Steelers appear to have made him happy heading into his final season.
