NFL Fans Encouraged To 'Boycott' CBS During 2026 Season

There's a growing push to "boycott" CBS.

Celebrities and TV viewers are encouraging all Americans to "boycott" the popular network in the wake of the cancellation of Stephen Colbert's late-night talk show. Colbert's final show aired on CBS this week. CBS opted to pull the plug on the late-night show, which was reportedly losing $40 million per year.

Jimmy Kimmel, who works for ABC, is encouraging his viewers to never watch CBS again.

"On behalf of everyone at our show, we want to say to everyone at your show: It has been a pleasure to work alongside you. I will be watching tomorrow night. I hope that those of you who watch our show will also tune in to CBS for the last time. Don't ever watch it again," Kimmel said.

CBS, of course, is one of the biggest networks in the world. It's home to several major sporting events, including the NCAA Tournament, The Masters, and hundreds of NFL games each year.

Many, though, are encouraging everyone to "boycott" CBS - and that includes NFL games this fall.

"Boycott CBS, Paramount and any Ellison product," one wrote.

"Thank you Stephen Colbert. No reason to watch CBS anymore," one added.

"I am torn on this. If we boycott CBS, thousands of innocent people will lose their jobs," another person added.

"CBS canceled Stephen Colbert to appease Trump. Now a growing movement across the United States is calling for a boycott of CBS. Do you support it?" another shared.

Would NFL fans actually boycott CBS?

While many people might opt against watching whatever CBS puts in Stephen Colbert's timeslot, it's highly unlikely that NFL fans would willingly not watch football in order to prove a point.

Nothing in American entertainment is as big as the NFL. It's consistently the most-watched live event on TV.

It'll be interesting to see if the "boycott CBS" movement pushes into the football season, but it's unlikely to make a serious mark in the NFL ratings department.
