Knicks Legend Walt Frazier Reveals His Preferred NBA Finals Opponent

The New York Knicks punched their ticket to the 2026 NBA Finals with an Eastern Conference Finals sweep over the Cleveland Cavaliers, notching a dominant 130-93 final score in Game 4.

This marks the Knicks’ first trip to the NBA Finals since 1999, where this year’s squad will look to secure the franchise’s first championship title since 1973.

Seven-time NBA All-Star Walt “Clyde” Frazier helped the Knicks secure that championship as the team’s point guard from 1967-1977. And on Monday night, the New York legend was in the house at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena to watch the 2026 Knicks win the conference finals.

After the game, Frazier was asked who he would rather play in the NBA Finals.

The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder are tied 2-2 in the Western Conference Finals.

“I don’t care,” Frazier said. “But the Spurs, because we played them during the regular season and we did pretty good.”

The Knicks secured this year’s in-season NBA Cup with a 124-113 win over the Spurs back in December. They split their next two regular-season matchups, falling with a 134-132 final score on Dec. 31 and winning with a 114-89 final score on March 1.

New York dropped both of its regular-season matchups against the reigning NBA-champion Thunder.
