Indiana Fever Coach Stephanie White Shares Her True Feelings on Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark has been sensational for the Indiana Fever ever since the team selected her first overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. In her first two years in the pros, she established herself not only as an All-Star but also as one of the top players in the league.

The Fever guard is widely regarded as one of the best passers in today's game, as well as a dangerous shooter who changes how teams scheme defensively against her.

In the 2026 season, her third year, Clark is averaging 23.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 9.0 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.0 block per game. She leads the WNBA in assists and is third in scoring.

Considering how well Clark has performed, even amid the high expectations placed upon her, it's not a surprise why Fever head coach Stephanie White loves working with her.

White said as much during a recent appearance on the "Query & Company" podcast, adding that she sees a lot of herself in Clark, especially in terms of competitiveness and their shared perfectionist mentality.

"I have so much respect and admiration for her as a player, as a person, the way that she handles herself," White said of Clark. "We are very much alike in terms of our competitive fire, our competitive spirit, our perfectionism and type a personalities. I love going to work with her every day. I love that she loves to be coached, challenged and pushed."

The Fever head coach, who joined the team in Clark's second season in 2025, also shared how the 24-year-old guard "wants to be the best." It is something that White really likes, noting that it "makes it easy to come to work and to get after it every day."

Clark and the Fever are expected to be title contenders under White's tutelage this 2026 campaign. The team made it all the way to the WNBA semifinals last season even with Clark sidelined due to a groin injury, so expectations are high that they can take that next step with their superstar healthy.

Based on how White described Clark, there should be plenty of optimism surrounding her and the team's future.
