Paige Spiranac Set To Compete For $4 Million Golf Prize

Paige Spiranac will be playing for quite the golf prize later this summer.

Barstool Sports and Bob Does Sports announced this weekend that the prize pool for the second annual Internet Invitational has been set. And it's big. Dave Portnoy, who founded Barstool Sports, announced that the prize pool for The Internet Invitational has been set at $4 million.

Last year, the prize for the winning team was $1 million, split between three players. Spiranac was on the losing end, though her team ended up making to the championship match. She fell short of the prize, as her team lost on the 18th hole.

This year, the stakes will be even higher.

Spiranac had a controversial showing at last year's Internet Invitational. She played well, and her team reached the championship match, though at one point, she was accused of cheating.

The former collegiate golfer was accused of intentionally stomping around in some tall grass, helping out the angle for her team's shot. When called out on camera, Spiranac said she didn't know that you couldn't do that. She then started crying.

Spiranac admitted that it was a tough time for her

Spiranac ended up taking a break from social media as a result.

"I am in a bit of a funk, a rut if you will, and its not like a one or two day thing," Spiranac said. "This has been going on for a little bit. I feel like I've just been so in my head about everything and I'm just trying to work through it. I think that's why I haven't been posting as much because I am just overthinking everything and I just feel like my anxiety has taken control.

"I'm trying to push myself outside of that and post more and get back to what I was doing before. I feel like I haven't been active because I've just been in my own head, in this kind of funky rut and we're working through it."

Spiranac has since returned to social media. She's expected to compete in The Internet Invitational later this year.
