The United States Men's National Team will play two friendly matches before they play in the 2026 World Cup. The first friendly match will be today against Senegal at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The friendly match against Senegal will test the USMNT, as Senegal is arguably the best African team and a serious team that can make history this summer at the World Cup.
Unlike previous friendly matches for the USMNT, head coach Mauricio Pochettino has defined his USMNT World Cup squad and will use these friendlies to pick his strongest team.
The official USMNT World Cup squad announcement was done in New York City earlier this week, with 25 of the 26-man roster present.
In the March international window, the USMNT played against Belgium and Portugal. The USMNT lost both matches: losing 5-2 to Belgium and losing 2-0 to Portugal.
Senegal played two friendly matches in March as well. Senegal defeated Peru 2-0 with goals from Nicolas Jackson and Ismaila Sarr. Senegal then defeated Gambia 3-1 with goals from Abdoulaye Seck, Ibrahim Mbaye, and Lamine Camara.
