Kalama's Kacey Curtis wins state championship in pole vault
Kalama's Kacey Curtis took home the state title in the 1A pole vault event during the 1A Girls State Championships on Friday at Eisenhower High School in Yakima.

The sophomore set a new PR twice and improved her school record mark, clearing 10 feet, 9 inches and 11 feet. Curtis surpassed the bar at 11 feet on her final attempt.

"It feels pretty good," she said. "I worked really hard for it. It felt so great to finally get over the bars. I couldn't have done it without all of the coaches."
