Lexie Hull Comments on Indiana Fever's Tough Situation
The Indiana Fever have dropped to 4-4 on the season after back-to-back losses to the Golden State Valkyries and Portland Fire over the past week. Their defeat to the Fire was particularly bad, with the Fever blown out by 16 points, 100-84.
Defense has been a major issue for Indiana, as the team has allowed its opponents to score at least 100 points in three of its four losses so far.
Despite their early season struggles, however, guard Lexie Hull has not lost confidence in the Fever. She did acknowledge that they are still a work in progress, particularly on defense, but said they are making sure to address their shortcomings.
"I think for us as a group, we're trying to still figure out what our identity is," Hull said about Indiana's slow start during an appearance on Yahoo Sports Daily. "We talked about defense wanting to be something we can hang our hat on, and that's not something that we can be proud of this far.
She added, "But that's something that we're working on a lot in the gym. We're watching a lot of film. We're getting together in small groups and as a team, and being very honest about what we're seeing out there."

Hull also touched on the relationship between the players and coaches, which has been a hot topic lately because of Caitlin Clark's heated exchange with head coach Stephanie White during a game.
According to Hull, the Fever are able to have "tough conversations" on the issues they have as a group because they are "excited about growing together" and "eager about getting better." She expressed her belief that it's something that's only going to help them moving forward.
The Fever return to action against the Atlanta Dream on Thursday. It will certainly be interesting to see whether Hull and the rest of the team can end their slump and show everyone that they remain a cohesive unit amid their struggles.
