NBA Announces Historic Viewership Stats for Spurs-Thunder Game 7

All eyes were on the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder as they went to battle in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.

The Spurs ultimately came out on top, taking down the defending NBA-champion Thunder with a 111-103 final score on their home court. The series’ two biggest stars - Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - both put forth impressive showings in the closeout game.

Wembanyama finished the game with 22 points and seven rebounds, securing unanimous Western Conference Finals MVP honors. Gilgeous-Alexander had his best individual game of the series in the losing effort, recording 35 points to go along with his nine assists.

This Game 7 matchup drew some historic viewership numbers, according to an announcement from the NBA on Monday.

“Game 7 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder has surpassed 2 BILLION views across social media platforms, becoming the most-viewed NBA game EVER on social,” NBA Communications wrote. “The series now owns the TWO MOST-VIEWED NBA games EVER on social, with Game 1 reaching 1.9 billion views.”

With their Game 7 victory in the Western Conference Finals, the Spurs now advance to face off against the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals.
