Caitlin Clark Shows True Leadership After Fever's 4-4 Start To Season

Things could certainly be worse for the Indiana Fever right now but they could also be a lot better, and Caitlin Clark accepts that.

With their loss to Portland on Saturday, the Fever have fallen to 4-4 on the season and are now riding back-to-back losses into Thursday's game against Atlanta. But while many fans would argue that Caitlin Clark is practically injuring herself trying to carry the team on her back, Clark has a different view on her performance.

Per Yahoo Sports, Clark has decided to take ownership for all of the team's struggles over the past few games.

"I critique myself more than anybody and I have to be better," she declared.

Caitlin Clark vs. The World

WNBA fans were certainly happy to see Clark own up to her own struggles amid the team's lackluster start, but also believe that the rest of the team - specifically, head coach Stephanie White - would follow her lead. Others admonished Clark's fans for not being as critical of Clark as she's willing to be.

"Took more accountability then the coach ever does," one user remarked.

"Looks like the Coaching staff are trying to sabotage her career, if you have a Super Star like Caitlin Clark that we've never seen before, adapt to her Skills instead of trying to change her style of playing just like MJ and Steph Curry's coaches adapted," another wrote.

"And they'll still find something to pick at, even though she's taking full responsibility," a third lamented.

"So she admits she has to be better but her fans think she doesn't she's just fine. Thank god she doesn't listen to y'all."

"Wait, are CC fans going to accept this, I thought this was on White."

"Good Girl …now continue to get 🏀 in the hoop! Your defense will come …Jordan didn't happen over night!"

Caitlin Clark is arguably the face of the entire WNBA, but her struggles are the team's struggles and the team's struggles are often her struggles. Recognizing that isn't enough though.

For the Fever to become more than a fringe playoff team, let alone a WNBA contender, there simply needs to be more.
